The good news of the classification of this trnasaction as a merger,
is that the true costs of acquisition will not be so easily buried in goodwill. However, isn't it the case that there are typically write-offs that occur in a merger, such as the cost of decommissioning a product that no longer is needed in the post-merger company, or cancelling projects where there might be overlap (say, for example, if
junglee and planetall and Amazon were all working on shop-bots).
