Hello Gypsy and Randy,

Gypsy, no I didn't take Randys' comment of bible thumper as hard or offensive I've been called far worse.
I'm treating all I read here with respect for the individuals presenting their thoughts or opinions and as you would have seen from my posts I will never ridicule anyone.
Randy, unlike some of the people you may have met in life I'm not trying to get you to join my organized church or reaching into your wallet nor am I trying to win or lose a discussion. I suppose you could say I pose no threat so feel free to express yourself, with both barrels.
Everyone has a belief system based on something, be it their personal experiences, what they have been taught perhaps since childhood or they are searching as I would think some of the people participating in this thread are.
Wouldn't you agree that people are basically spiritual in their outlook wanting or searching for something more than mere existence that gets snuffed out when they die?
My belief system is based on faith that the bible is Gods word and accepting what it has to say. That faith has been reinforced since I became a Christian due to the experiences I have had and further study and in prayer.
What I present here is based entirely on scripture, compare it to your own thoughts with mutual respect for each other.
Gypsy, you may be surprised but I actually have a strong dislike for organized religion as I see it today just as Jesus did in His day. It was actually the heads of the organized religion of that time that arranged His execution howbeit propheticaly.
What you say is very true regarding religions as a whole. Under the guise of Christianity many organizations try to control through fear, tradition and potential reward some day, maybe. That is not what the bible provides as the way to heaven, it is wrong in Gods eyes.
You stated you consider yourself a decent person without God. Some of the most moral, decent people I have met were not Christians. I do not judge a person based upon their level of goodness and according to the bible neither does God.
What amazed me in the bible was how simple Gods plan of salvation actually is and it was mankind that invented the complicated forms of "Christanity" steeped in tradition and hypocrisy.

John
