The ferocious 1997 rally took a little over a year to be completed. If you are correct in your prediction that the stock will be making new highs next summer, then sometime around now would be a good time to invest.

If you are concerned about the relatively high valuation in AMAT, you might want to consider other large-cap names in the sector: KLAC, NVLS, TER. Teradyne especially seems like a bargain lately, although it is possible that Wall Street knows something about the company that I don't. (In the interests of full disclosure, I own all three of those stocks.)
