SI also has an advantage over the Yahoo board that hasn't been mentioned so far: One can post a much longer message here than at Yahoo. I was involved in a stock where the former directors were suing each other and wasting preceious corporate assets on lawsuits. I was able to get my hands on some court documents and scanned them in and posted them, as well as my own lengthy analysis demonstrating why the main lawsuit was a big waste of money. I must have posted well over 100 pages of court documents and analysis on SI. I don't know how many people slogged through it all, but I was able to make a lot of information available that would not have been available otherwise. SI lets you get about 20 pages in a post. Yahoo only lets you post messages that are a few paragraphs long. I would never have been able to get all that info on Yahoo. The situation I was involved with was unusual, but Yahoo's length restriction might inadvertantly restrict in-depth analysis.
