the list is growing..

Any other garbage out there?

Anything that does not flake...?

I heard Maxtor was good ...

===================================

I think the problems with the new SYQUEST large capacity drive which are being returned like ill fitting shoes is that their logic in the PP drives are very bad. One drive ejected while running when I put in a setup disk form MS that sent out printer commands. The drive was not masked well enought from accidental ejection! Bad logic I am afraid. Or possible electronic failure. Both that drive and the replacement would lock and not eject no matter what was done in software. Sometimes when putting the media in it would sound like it locked in but would not start. Finally the replacement drive just locked and would not start. Endsville. Documentation/help files where as bad as free Unix and emabarassingly imcomplete. The method of basic operation was not even explained.

The heads are on a ramp that I am afraid all to often hits the media.

It would require a complete software overhaul and design change. I could figure a system that would not be crashable but why tell them? With gmr these days I could get it to work.
