Apple Computer Chooses EarthLink as Default Internet Provider
Cupertino, California, Aug. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Apple Computer Inc. said it chose EarthLink Network Inc. as the default Internet- service provider for its iMac home computers that go on sale this weekend.
Users who choose Apple's one-step Internet setup will be hooked up with the EarthLink Network, which will waive its usual $25 setup fee and give 30 days of free service to iMac purchasers.
Apple, the world's ninth-largest computer maker, will begin selling its iMac home computers on Saturday. The new model sports a translucent blue plastic case and bubble, an all-in-one design. The machines, expected to sell for $1,299, are the Cupertino, California-based company's first new line of home computers since the introduction of its Performa in 1992.
EarthLink, based in Pasadena, California, says more than 20 percent of its members use Apple's Macintosh computers. |
