Intelect Announces Full Motion Color Video Conferencing At 128-kbps for Internet
Affordable Full Motion, Full Color Video Conferencing Over the Internet To be Available for xDSL, Cable Modem, and ISDN Users
RICHARDSON, Texas, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Intelect Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: ICOM - news), a leading provider of products and services for the seamless integration of voice, data and video technologies, today announced a technological breakthrough in its leading-edge video communications product, LANscape(TM). For the first time, full motion, full color video conferencing will be possible at 128-kbps. This opens the market for LANscape to include users with xDSL, cable modem or ISDN Internet connectivity. Additionally, in LAN/WAN enterprise networks where bandwidth is less constrained, LANscape 128-kbps operability will offer conferencing of an increased number of sites simultaneously without the need of expensive multi-conferencing units (MCU). The enhancement for LANscape is expected to be launched in October at TeleCon XVIII, with commercial availability during the fourth quarter of 1998.

Gateway Custom Integration Services division will manufacture their Destination(R) and E-Series product lines enabled with LANscape. Using the Internet standard (IP) as its transmission protocol, LANscape is the only video communications product to offer full-motion video over existing LAN/WAN networks and provide multiple user videoconferencing without an expensive Multi-Conferencing Unit (MCU). LANscape also supports IP multicasting for simultaneous distribution of video communications, either real-time or pre-recorded, across entire networks. These features, along with LANscape's ability to provide VCR record and playback controls, make it a complete multimedia video network solution.
