I won't be surprised if Apple decides against color choices. It's a complication in manufacturing and costs.

When I published software I offered too many choices from those points of view, and I believe sales would have been better if less complicated and that my costs would have been far less.

Consider, they have to decide how many of each color will be ordered and mfr all those extras and then if they run out of a color people have to wait. Costs increase as the numbers decrease, so costs would be much higher in providing different color choices.

Apple may leave color changes to third parties. Just as third parties made different cases for the Plus.
