Hi Savolainen,
I'll look over my notes and see if I can answer any of your questions:
re: licensing/royalties: all i have is that 'licensing in very good shape' Also, for the Sony and Oki deals, they said they were not fully recognized and 'left a big portion for the future'. ***My reading between the lines says that they probably had more that they could've recognized last q, but were being cautious in lieu of Asia. This q, too much to hide. Just my guess, but it fits the facts.
<<any news on palm/teak... maybe update on xemics sa (switzerland) low voltage technology? last cc noted that palm may be released this year?>> q. how is Teak and other cores going? a. Already signed one more, not released yet. have many prospects. licensing growing very well.
<<update on tad business? update on competition? >> no mention of competition. so korea sales are up 27% q to q, big upside if so korea improves. **this is re: 'product revenues' I assume this is tad.
<<timing for porting of teak to 1 volt? last cc noted between 3 and 6 mo...>> I've got nothing on this.
<<any update on the handsfree voice activation chip? last cc it was mentioned that maybe big volume before the end of the year?>> I've got nothing on this. They did say, '-developing advanced voice recognition which will be addressed to tad market, and other markets. ie: cars, and other apps. ' when asked about tad life. but the handsfree chip already announced, so this is about something else.
<<any mention of xdsl?>> no
You should have been on that call. Good questions. I've got to admit I wasn't as critical in my note taking this quarter as the numbers were so strong.
I guess one concern I have is they said the licensing deals were all spread over 3 qtrs. Can this mean that a successfull product with a several year lifespan with an oak core, would only benefit them for 3 quarters? My impression is no, that they are talking about the upfront portion of the license, but I suppose I should ask. I've never heard of license with a fixed time myself..., I found it hard to find something to be concerned about. The tone of this call was much more relaxed than the previous q.
Hope that helps...., perhaps you should give'm a call..? -Kevin |
