Well folks, I have said it before, I'll say it again: franchises stay, talent does not. From Strategy Plus:

ION Storm reported that Joey Liaw, the lead programmer on
Anachronox, is leaving the company this week to enter Stanford
University. Liaw took a year off between high school and college to work
for ION Storm. He plans to study electrical engineering and the piano.

Anacrhonox is designer Tom Hall's upcoming third-person role-playing
game. The game is set in the future and takes place in the ancient city of
Anachronox, located at the center of the galaxy. Players will assume the
role of Sylvester Boots who, along with partner Stiletto Anyway, must
unravel the mystery of Anachronox to save the galaxy from collapsing.
Anachronox is due out next year.

WTF? WTF??? We gave Ion Storm bundles of cash; they blow it on a Penthouse studio, and then deliver El Floppo Capitano "Dominion Storm". They further have switched game engines and delayed Daikatana for who knows how long. Several people have already left. And now, a major game loses its lead programmer. He hopes to study law and the piano? What kind of geek-programmer is this? What he hopes is that the next few years pass quickly so he can legally drink...this guy is a kid! Do we get ANY kind of contract for ANYBODY? Shit, this has really got me steamed...
