Pete,

Considering that it takes around 4 to 5 hundred million to get an new drug FDA approved and on the market and that Vivus' market cap is now less than 2 hundred million, I would say that at this point in time Vivus is looking to me as a ripe candidate for a hostile take over. We are talking about a decent product with a unique delivery system. The product MUSE as compared to Viagra has a superior safety profile and acts locally vs the systemic effects of Viagra. Also, I might add that the legal community is watching the safety issues closely and thus far there have been no wrongful death suits filed against Pfizer but about four lawsuits seeking damages for coronaries and blindness/fainting leading to a car accident have been filed by the same lawyer in New York.

Unfortunatly, Vivus has a management that is always about 6 months behind the power curve, a non existent PR department and an IR department that shows little if any concern for shareholder interests. The Street is heavily discounting Vivus due to these issues and in the proper hands, MUSE can prove to be a respectable and profitable contender in a very hot ED market.

I have communicated with Astra and was told that through effective marketing and physician education, they feel that Viagra may actually help MUSE sales abroad via the awareness effect and that Astra would make sure that the safety/local effect of MUSE be its strongest selling point.
