<<Surely Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle are every bit as good if not
better.>>

And many others as well. Truth is no less true for coming from many different mouths. The notion that society would be better off if we were to love our neighbors as ourselves is hardly original, but it still makes sense. The more people saying it the better, though I can't help noticing that many of those saying it don't seem to act on it.

Biblical accounts of miracles were recorded by believers, who were certainly partial and therefore questionable as witnesses. On many occasions back in my reporting days, I personally interviewed numerous eyewitnesses to historical events, all of whom gave entirely different accounts of the same events - only hours later. "Eyewitness" is not so certain a word as we'd like to think. I would require much more independent verification before changing my policy of neither believing nor disbelieving.

I don't know if there were miracles or not. I don't think anybody alive really knows. Personally, I don't much care; you can believe or not, care or not, as you choose. But please remember that it's a choice, and others may choose differently. Believing something doesn't make it universally true.
