Another data point:

Ironically, Compaq is grappling with new inventory
problems as it cuts server prices. The computer maker,
rebounding from inventory problems during the first two
quarters, had reduced levels to about 3.5 weeks on
June 30. But successful sales out have created
shortages in some server lines, a Compaq official said.
He would not speculate on which models or the length
of the delays, but one source close to the company
estimated shortages as much as eight weeks.
