Let's review the expected HOT INTERNET IPO that turned out to live up to it's ticker! Yes, I'm talking about Cyberian Outcast (COOL). When it finally opened on Friday 7/31/98 (after a 4 hour delay) It fell from it's open of 26 to close at 20 1/2 on heavy volume (4.8 million shares). The 2nd day of trading saw more floundering. Traded from a 21 5/8 gap up down to a 17 5/8 close on over 2 million shares. Day 3 saw a low of 17 1/8, high of 18 and close of 17 3/8 on 650,000 shares. Day 4 - same as day 3 on 369,000 shares. Day 5 - Up 1/4 to 17 5/8 on 366,000 shares. BIG FRIDAY (Day 6) Gap open, high of 20 1/8 and close of 19 on 1.1 million shares. Finally, Monday 8/10/98 {the day before the much HYPED GCTY}, COOL (day 7 trading) gapped up to 19 7/8 saw 20 but tanked to 17 1/2 on weak volume of 169,500 shares. OUCH!!!! HOT IPO HUH? GOOD LUCK!!!! PLACE THOSE MARKET ORDERS!!!
