Metromedia International Group Launches Internet Services in Romania
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--August 11, 1998-- Metromedia International Group, Inc. (MMG:Amex) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Metromedia International Telecommunications, Inc., ("MITI"), has launched an Internet access service over its cable television plant in Romania. In connection with this launch, Romsat Cable and Radio, a 100% owned subsidiary of MITI, has upgraded its cable plant from 350 Megahertz to 860 Megahertz in the Bucharest neighborhoods of Liseanu, Calea Mosilor, Stefan cel Mare, Dorobanti and Floresca.
The new service, branded CoNEcT, provides access to Romsat's Internet Service Provider partner, Logic Telecom. As a result of the network upgrade, 25,000 cable television subscribers now have access to CoNEcT. Romsat currently serves 44,000 Bucharest cable television subscribers .

CoNEcT service is provided to residences at the equivalent of $95 per month for access and usage. Business users will be charged between the equivalent of $125 per month and $500 per month depending upon traffic needs. |
