The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, August 11, 1998 edition that YBM Magnex International says former Ontario premier David Peterson has resigned from its board, and Igor Fisherman has voluntarily agreed to a suspension from his job as chief operating officer. The Globe's Casey Mahood writes that YBM Magnex also revealed yesterday it is in the process of selecting candidates for the COO job as well as such positions as president and chief financial offer for the Eastern European operations of subsidiary United Trade Ltd. YBM, which has its shares listed on the TSE, faces a hearing before the Ontario Securities Commission on August 19. YBM said yesterday that its independent committee of directors will oversee the company's response to issues raised by Canadian and U.S. authorities. Pending completion of the review, the YBM board has ensured that no money will be transferred or removed from the company and its subsidiaries without its approval, except for money necessary for immediate day to day operations.
