Mike - Just go check old news stories if you forgot. Don't confuse public positions and PR with internal strategy. The industry is full of big players who downplay and pooh-pooh a technology direction right up to the moment when they announce their product in that space. It's about retaining customers and maintaining momentum. Products take a while to develop, and the marketing people can be out saying 'kill XXXX' while key developers are busy developing 'son of XXXX'.
