Just for the sake of discussion, most on the CSCO and LU (and ASND, ...) threads are assuming that LU will do a major acquisition in the data area come October. Maybe not. LU to-date has largely emulated CSCO's approach to making very selective and relatively small acquisitions of key technologies. I think I remember McGinn of LU saying not too long ago that if they were interested in buying a company, they would buy it. LU isn't exactly strapped for cash. I think it's generally agreed that, all other things being equal, the migration from voice switching (telecomm) to data switching (networking) is technically "easier" than the reverse. So, is it so far fetched that LU will proceed as they have in the past and not do The Biggy in Oct.? Looking forward to other's perspectives. ...Tim
