Shop bots don't necessarily require signing up vendors. That is the subscription type service and is not a true price comparison shop-bot. A price comparison shop bot scours the internet for merchants product databases or even other shop-bot databases to put together their database. That's true comparison shopping. The problem with that mechanism is how to get revenue. But when combined with other services that may not be a problem.

So what if Amazonvaluationgonenuts.com has a shop-bot? Amazon.com is falling behind in developing new internet technology and must go out and spend hundreds of millions of shareholders money through dilution of the stock to try to keep up. Amazon.con now just tries to join the filed of other companies who are leaders in emerging technologies. Amazon.com has NO proprietary technology to leverage over competitors and many competitors who are now fielding competitive product.

Besides, Amazon.com, the company, is a seperate thing than Amazon.con the stock valuation. The two things are out of touch with each other and speculators will pay the difference.
