Mr. Brian Fairbank of Blue Desert Mining reports
Blue Desert Mining advises that Romarco Minerals has commencedÿ aÿ drilling
program at the South Midas project. Targets are high grade, epithermal gold
veins of the Midas type such as occur at theÿ newlyÿ developedÿ Kenÿ Snyder
mine seven miles to the northeast.
Two holes have been completed to test the Kiheiÿ zoneÿ whereÿ grabÿ samples
fromÿ veinsÿ atÿ surface returned assays of up to 1.24 ounces per ton gold.
Gold-bearing quartz-calcite veinsÿ strikeÿ northeasterlyÿ cuttingÿ andesite
hostÿ rocks. The holes were drilled at -45 and -70 degrees to depths of 500
and 800 feet respectively in order to intersect the veins at depth.ÿ Assays
are pending.
A third drill hole is currently under way at the Wailea zoneÿ approximately
500ÿ feetÿ northeast of the Kihei zone. At the Wailea zone, grab samples of
quartz veins cutting altered rhyolite assayed up toÿ 0.24ÿ ouncesÿ perÿ ton
gold.ÿ Anomalous gold values are widespread within silicified rhyolite host
rocks.
The northeast trending Wailea and Kihei zones areÿ separatedÿ byÿ theÿ Maui
faultÿ whichÿ strikesÿ north-northwest,ÿ cuttingÿ across the gold veins and
forming a conjugate set of structures. A fourth holeÿ willÿ beÿ drilledÿ to
test the Maui fault.
Additional drilling will be based on initial results.
