According to financial press on the day of Ralph's change, Ralph said we were entering a bear market. This is vastly different than saying there would be a x% pullback. A pullback would be a "normal" event in a bull market. A bear market is a fundamental change in the direction of the market that lasts from 6 months to 2+ years.

A bear market call also dictates vastly different actions than for a pullback. If the market continues to decline over the next 6 months, then Ralph is right. If the market rebounds then Ralph has whipsawed his listeners.

As Bob has said, the important thing is to be on the right side of the market. Pullbacks do not change the overall trend.
