A little bit of news:

Xybernaut Corporation (Nasdaq) Names Former Virginia Governor
George Allen to Board of Directors

PR Newswire - August 11, 1998 12:47

FAIRFAX, Va., Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Xybernaut Corporation (Nasdaq: XYBR), a world leader in the development of wearable computers, announced today former Virginia Governor George F. Allen has accepted a position on its board of directors.

Edward G. Newman, Xybernaut Corporation's Chairman and President said, "We welcome Governor Allen to the Xybernaut(R) team. He quarterbacked Virginia as it climbed the top ten list of high technology states. Now he will be in Xybernaut's huddle, as we kick off our latest product, the MA-IV."

The MA-IV, to be manufactured by Sony Digital Products, is Xybernaut's newest wearable computer product. It features a hands-free, body-worn and voice activated 233-266MHz Pentium(R) MMX processor, and a head mounted video display in full color which is viewed through an eyepiece producing an image comparable to a 15" monitor at a distance of two feet. The MA-IV has up to 128 MB of RAM, a 4 GB hard drive and dual PCMIA slots.

Allen, a Republican, gained international recognition for economic development and job creation during his term as governor. His efforts resulted in a record $14 billion in new investments and 312,000 private sector jobs. The location of several semiconductor fabrication plants and high technology firms in Virginia during Allen's tenure resulted in the State being dubbed "The Silicon Dominion."

"During my service as Governor, I had the invigorating pleasure of working with Xybernaut on our European Trade Mission. It is a wonderful honor to be named to the board of Xybernaut which is a dynamic and innovative company revolutionizing the tremendous utilization capabilities of voice activated computers," said Allen. "The pioneering hard work and entrepreneurial spirit of Xybernaut's visionary leadership and creative associates have made it a true Virginia success story that will continue to expand. Xybernaut is now known as the premier creator of wearable computers. Clearly, this is not science fiction -- the future is here now!"
