You put up a very legitimate arguement for shorting, and perhaps, while unaware of it, that's why my feelings to shorts are so casual, and yes they are definitely necessary, and not an evil necesity.
Unamerican? I never thought of it that way, though I certinly can see how some might....like burning your draft card during the Vietnam war, of moving to Canada. Let them think what they will, but I'm the one whose gotta take care of my family. Your getting me closer, and closer....Like losing ones virginity?
