Mr. W.T. Styffe reports
In consideration of the company's acquisition of the Canadian distribution rights of the Life*line from Safe Environment Engineering, LP; and, the pending recommencement of negotiations for acquisition of an interest in the California manufacturer of wireless monitoring equipment, Safe Environment has granted the right to Roper to use the Safe Environment name and associated logos and trademarks. As a result, Roper has commenced application with the Alberta Stock Exchange to change its name to Safe Environment Engineering, Canada, Inc. and will apply to change its trading symbol. The directors of Roper Resources have called for a meeting of the shareholders of Roper to vote on the pending name change, to take place on Sept. 25, 1998. Shareholders will receive notice by mail of time and location of the meeting.
Roper will open a Vancouver sales office for Life*line products on Sept. 1, 1998. Recruiting for sales and support personnel has begun, and it is expected that a complete operation will be in place in time for the opening of the new office.
Safe Environment Engineering has appointed Michael Ewing as its vice-president, sales and marketing, effective July 27, 1998.
The first segment of phase 1 of The Boeing Company's order of Life*line products was shipped on July 28, 1998. The shipment included a main monitoring console and two surrogate log-on stations. Expected to be completed no later than Aug. 2, 1998, phase 1 shipments will include several units of the recently announced new portable safety monitor, which is considerably smaller than its predecessor. First installation of the Life*line system is expected to begin at Boeing's aircraft maintenance facility in Everett, Washington during the first week of September.
