I saw you arguing this Clinton thing before and kind of understand your view but I just can not agree.
I am in the military first so maybe I am biased in regards to Clinton. First he dodges the draft, then everyone he knew from his past is either in jail, under indictment etc. He is the leader of a supposed honest Democratic society where he is supposed to represent our views and wishes. Now how can you have faith or allow this guy to stay in office and pursue the wishes of the american people when he is a liar to boot. You say you agree that he did it. Yet he got on TV, denied it to the hilt, and now appears that he obstructed justice, witness tampering etc. If he does these things then what else could he be doing? To go to the extreme to make a point. How do you know he isn't getting on TV talking about how he wants to help the economy but then uses the federal budget to short the market and then allow/cause the market to drop pocketing the profits in his own account?
Now I grant you that most politicians are crooks, but most are good at hiding it and resign when caught. You would never get elected if you stated the truth. I am going to balence the budget so Welfare is going away, the defense dept will be cut 90% which in turn will cut related jobs in the private sector causing record unemployment. I know ruining the environment is wrong so I am going to ignore all this special interest money and lobbies and shut down all the polluting factories forcing more unemployment. I know that we don't really need to cut down all those trees because we have substitutes we can use that are cheaper and better so I am going to lay off all those loggers that will never find a job. And I know that we can build cars that get better milage and pollute less so I am going to kill the oil industry and our alliances with the foreign oil producers. PS- for those of you that do still have a job, I am going to raise taxes to compensate for all the people I just put out of work and to start making payments on our deficit because the interest alone is killing us. Would you vote for me if I said that?
What is right and what keeps you in office are two different things.
I thought Nixon was a great president, but he was a crook. He got caught and he left. Kennedy was the biggest phoney ever in the whitehouse. He was anti civil rights but when his brother got Martin Luther King out of jail, even though he chastised Bobby in private for doing it, took all the credit and then became famous for advancing civil rights. Bush was probably one of the better presidents we have had but will never get any credit for what he was able to accomplish. What a coincidence that the ex-head of the CIA becomes president and all our troubles seem to just melt away magically that had been there for decades. Of course even the CIA couldn't fix the economy over night.
The main difference between being a normal crook in the white house and Clinton is that he lied, and used his influence to cover everything up in illegal methods. Clinton doesn't bother me half as much as the people that see nothing wrong with this. To me it is like the people that see someone getting murdered or raped in an alley in New York and just turn the TV up louder to cover the screams because it doesn't affect me. Someday it will. Then the tune will change to why didn't someone do something?
