Just want to make sure that I've got this straight.

Amzn sells books. Amzn has a web site to sell books.
Amzn also has another site which acts as a shop bot.
Amzn will attempt to attract critical mass to its stand alone shop bot.
Amzn will compete with portals who have and/or will have shop bots attached to them.
Portals have everything from free email, shopping, investing tools, on line journals, search engines, chat rooms, boards, etc. Many more people currently go to these sites for all sorts of reasons. Shop bots at these sites will have many visitors.
Amzn will try to attract visitors by dint of its reputation selling books (and music).
Portals will try to attract visitors by dint of a wide array of services.
Amzn overpays for its acquistions.
LCOS down, YHOO down, XCIT down, AOL down, AMZN up.

Oh, I understand.
