PetSmart has the muscle to take advantage of the lower Asian prices this will not be possible for the small retailers therefore PetSmart will have a huge price and margin advantage over competitors. IBM recently entered the Web-based collaboration market with an agreement to market QCS Collaboration Solutions, a data sharing application from QCS Corp. that's based on the Lotus Domino server. PetSmart, the first U.S.-based retail chain to use the Internet version of QCS's product, receives product data and photos from its Asian suppliers over the Web. "QCS has become our standard format for product-sourcing data from Asia," says Marcia Meyer, president of PetSmart Interna tional Supply Co.
