Paul/All,

We all have heard of INTC chip shortages in the US, then Canada, and now Europe. Compaq comes out yesterday and says server demand will outstrip supply. All anecdotal evidence points to a surge in demand for high end chips. Could the Y2K factor be at play here? Here is another piece of the puzzle to mull over:

What about the scenario that many pointed out but many also poo-pooed: the fact that companies may upgrade instead of debug? Looks like this may in fact be coming to fruition, although it is certainly too soon to tell.
