Cambior Inc., Zappa's joint venture partner, has recommenced drilling on
the La Plata massive sulphide project. La Plata is in the foothills of the
Andes, approximately 200km southwest of Ecuador's capital city, Quito.
With the latest program under way, Cambior will have earned its 51 per cent
of the project, having spent over $2-million on exploration. The program
has grown in importance and potential (see Stockwatch dated July 23, 1998).
The new round of drilling is stepped out 100 metres south of hole 23, which
ran 2.59 g/t Au, 69.5 g/t Ag, 14.3 per cent Cu and 1.70 per cent Zn, over
9.8 metres.
Cambior also loaned Zappa $120,000 of unsecured funds for working capital.
The loan is to be repaid by Oct. 31, 1999.
Tore Birkland has resigned as a member of Zappa's board.
