Good to see some working capital, which in turn may allow some bidding on larger contracts, or faster project completion, which should lead to larger gross profit than would otherwise be the case.
Howard, I'm a little concerned about the route announcements take. I notice you use stockwatch, which distributes a lot of VSE stuff, but is a subscription service. I know about the recent deal the VSE has made with Canada Newswire, and I agree with those who are opposed to it. I think there may be a shake-up in News distribution coming so it may be as well to wait and see what does happen. However, I find I use Carlson OnLine fin-info.com to try to consolidate the various news feeds. As you will see if you visit there they take the feeds from Canada Newswire, Canadian Corporate News and ISDN Wire Services and consolidate them, (try listing all of todays headlines). If you search for UIC it finds the company fine, but there is nothing there. Compare this to Spectrum Signal Processing, another fine Vancouver based company which is helping me delay my retirement. The difference is interesting. Carlson is free to readers. For that matter, so are CNW, CCN and ISDN if you just want to go and look up a company. Nothing against Stockwatch, but why would I pay for a service I can get for nothing? Because, you answer, Stockwatch has more complete coverage of the VSE etc. e.g. UIC. Well, say I, bite me!. The bulk of my investing is TSE and NASDAQ. Makes no sense to pay for VSE when I can read much more than I hope to ever read free on my stocks on the other exchanges. Also, check quote.yahoo.com This service is becoming very comprehensive. Check out a few fine vintages like Newbridge Networks, wipe away the tears and notice the connections to news, research, etc. Good, valuable, easy to get, and free. I'm not in your end of the business, so just suggestions.
Nice pop today. Figured we'd hunker down today and hope not see any trading. At least that way we wouldn't head down again along with everyone else in the world. Was very pleasantly surprised to see that UIC was my only up stock. May the Fates continue to overlook me. |
