Here's a respond from Randall McCallum, SI membership is still down, so he asked me to post for him.
This is the comment that Susan Varga took issue with and made certain accustations about myself, Randall McCallum and my credibility and character. I have responded to these accustations, because I feel that she is totally out of line making the assumption that I have and that I am endorsing the Data News Group and their report. She obviously doesn't read things right. It is very apparent to me and I firmly believe that she has tried to single out one comment that I made in my response to the Data News stuff and then try to twist it to benefit her own hidden agenda. Perhaps she would like to directly challenge me about my integrity and character? I am one tough SOB and I don't take bullshit comments lightly, from anybody. Period. No, I don't endorse any news group.
I merely respond and answer the questions. For me to take anything seriously, it has to be a real report and properly written. The facts are there, and I think it is easy for people to understand that the sole purpose of the Data News report was to have people buy THW. The projections are of their own making and not the projections of the company's or mine. They had some things right, the presentation was kind of poor, but then again, I don't get these type of e-mails so I wouldn't be able to compare it to anything. As mentioned, I only get the really lame research reports that have been put out by so called broker analysts from Canadian brokerage firms.
This is where Susan has misquoted me. I don't appreciate it.
(Part of the Data News Report) >Once this issue is resolved, there is no looking back for this company, as >they have a number of deals, bundling agreements and positive media >attention coming. Further to this, one or two financings are not far off.
(This is my original Response to the above statement in regards to Data News from Randall McCallum)
RM - We have a duty to our shareholders and the industry. We can wait for the 1,488,000 escrow shares. They aren't going anywhere. Imagine letting him go to get these shares. Shareholders could accuse us of selling out the company for our own benefit. Where will these 1,488,000 escrow shares go when the co-founders get them from the exchange and the transfer agent. They have been allocated to others within the company as an incentive which benefits all shareholders. The co-founders (five of us including myself) have allocated 100% to other employees and not one of them will go to us. We are not asking for a return on these shares from these employees since we believe in this company and feel that these shares will help to reach our target price within the next 14 to 18 months. What is that? Let's just say that we picked a target and all numbers I have seen so far are low.
RM - No where in there do I endorse the the Data News group report. I wrote it and I have read it ten times.
RM - I personally believe that Susan Varga is twisting my comments out of context, especially after reading the whole post with my full comments about Data News.
RM - No where in this does it say that the numbers that I am referring to are the Data News group numbers. Period. What I did say is this in response to the Data News stuff:
Data News >Once this issue is resolved, there is no looking back for this company, as Data News >they have a number of deals, bundling agreements and positive media Data News >attention coming. Further to this, one or two financings are not far off.
RM - We are not asking for a return on these shares from these employees since we believe in this company and feel that these shares will help to reach our target price within the next 14 to 18 months. What is that? Let's just say that we picked a target and all numbers I have seen so far are low. We have our own goals and plans.
The key phrase here is 'help to reach OUR target price withing the next 14 to 18 months.'. OUR TARGET PRICE. Not anyone elses target price. OUR TARGET PRICE. I didn't say that it was Data News target price and nor did I imply it. We have big goals. If you don't then you can't hit them or even come close. This comment does not mean we will achieve them. It means we have a target and set goals to get there. (WE HAVE OUR OWN GOALS AND PLANS). That obviously means that we don't allow oourselves to become distracted by other people's targets, whether they be short term or long term projections from any group. Including the Data News Group.
If we do 30% of our targets and accomplish 20% of our goals, all shareholders will be happy. Set a target (aim high) and if you get part of the high target, you'll have achieved success.
RM - The comment: What is that?
RM - Sounds very clear to me. When you build a company, you have targets and goals and we have always had had a target and value in mind for this company and that all numbers the numbers that I have seen are low. We tell ourselves daily that we will accomplish great things by setting targets and goals. That's what drives our team to succeed against all the odds. And believe me the odds are tough and generally against small software companies succeeding. We take no prisoners.
RM - This Susan Varga talks about my Pie in the Sky projections.
RM - My answer to this. I have heard that comment before. The first time was when my friends and the guys I worked with a Cominco Ltd in Trail BC (worked as a labourer in from 1978 to March 1986 at a lead and zinc smelter). They said that my constant talk about computer stuff was all Pie in the Sky Star Trek stuff. I was waving my arms and talking about the computer revolution and how animation, sound and video would be used to educate people and that people would interact around the world on a network of computers connected by phone lines. They thought I was nuts. I set up one of the first Macintosh bulletin boards in North America in 1984. Now they ask me to help them pick out a computer for thier kids and they only dream of accomplishing the goals that I have. There still my friends and always will be. They were just a little short sighted and lacked imagination.
RM - The second time is when my wife (1988) said that I didn't have the education to build a software company (I have a grade 12) and that I would never succeed and that she wouldn't support my efforts and didn't want to be married to a uneducated jock bum like me. She's now my ex wife, and one time in 1990, after my first company acheived early success in the new field of multimedia software, she came back claiming that she was all wrong about me. Of course I said it was too late. Support and trust is the most important part of any relationship. So pie in the sky is something I am very familiar with people saying about me.
RM - The third time that I heard Pie in the Sky was when I said we would win the Best product award at the MacWorld in NY in July. I had a few friends still doubt that setting goals is what myself and my team are all about. Well since 1988, I have been involved with and have received 19 world class awards for software design and the most recent award was reached all because of the desire to reach for the stars and go after it. Nobody will get in the way of that. If we don't believe, then who will. The next goal is to get "Best of Comdex" for our WebPainter 3 for Windows. That's in the fall.
RM - "Greed and short-sighted goals are things that kill companies and expected investor returns. Goals and rewards are meant to be strived for and reached by all of those that put the efforts into acheiving them. The co-founders will get the shares from Aggarwal in court. We will distibute them as promised to employees so that they can personally benefit in the rewards of building this company to the highest successes possible.
RM - If someone thinks I am being too promotional in our future goals in the software industry, then they should consider investing elsewhere. People such as Susan Varga might want to get out of Totally Hip. When you deal in the US it's either GO BIG OR GO HOME. There is no time for the conservative attitude anymore. We have been patient and conservative as a company for the past 3 years and we have planned for our future. If we don't set goals and targets for ourselves and our employees in the industry, we'll get lost in the shuffle amongst the thousands of software companies stiving to be the best. We need to start promoting ourselves as the number one software developer of web design and animation tools in the world. If she doesn't like it, too bad. I am not here to please Susan Varga or anyone like her. I am here to make the shareholders the best return on investment that we possibly can and in doing so I will have acheived the goals that I have set for myself and the company. That does not mean that investors should jump on board or that I am asking them to invest. Use your common sense. Your not sheep!
RM - I am very bullish on THW and our future prospects. We are not a blue ship company. We are a speculative risk in a very competitive market. There are no guarantees, but it doesn't mean that we won't strive for our goals. I think most people understand that and that they will use their own precautions when considering any investment, in any company.
RM - I believe that Susan has misquoted me and twisted things and made the wrong assumptions and that is outright wrong! But I have noticed that certain people have turned on her. What is Susan's agenda anyways? Doesn't sound like that of an investor to me. Sounds like something my ex wife would say. Doubt! Doubt! Doubt! Do you hear me laughing Susan.
RM - If Susan Varga is full of doubt, she shouldn't be investing. Sell Susan! Perhaps she is really my ex wife in disguise and come back and haunt me. Imagine that. AGH! It's almost laughable.
RM - Now I am probably going to be faced with certain comments in regards to my toying with Susan.
RM - Totally Hip is a different company. We think different. People shouldn't expect me to act like some conservative CEO or Chairman. When I make a public and formal announcement it will be in a press release. And it will probably come from Brian Leeners, the President & COO. I would appreciate it if I am not misquoted, but then again, that's almost impossible in this day and age.
RM - Anyways, I think that Susan Vargas comments are totally out of line and she owes me an apology.
RM - Am I having fun yet? You bet!
