Very entertaining, Paul !...
1st time I have enjoyed reading a post of yours , paul ! Keep up the good work, and may al Cyrix fans be "trashed" ;))
Neh...I don't think cyrix is the right cpu at this moment, they run blood-hot, perform awefull with 3d and fpu intensive programs (no, not "a little less than intel,", just straight forward AWEFULL)and are hardly overclockable....Nonetheless I think Cyrix will have an advanced cpu q3 of 1999, the MXi or "cheyenne" . Featuring 3d-now (yes, sources inside Cyrix revealed Cyrix will use 3d-now in their future cpu's instead of KNI )the weakest spot of Cyrix will be removed (the gaming performance..), and be a serious competitor to both the Celeron and the K6-1 or 2. But at that time the K6-2+ and K6-3 should be available, and still would render the Cyrix rather useless for mid end computers. As for the Medicino (Majic TM), I think it is a good alternative for performance-hungry intel fans with a smaller budget. I even think people find the Medicino more value for money than the pII.
Greetz, Michael da Kota.
Ps., Paul, do you happen to know anything about Intel supporting 3d-now in the future ? Just as MMX it is going to be a standard, and KNI won't be out for a long time... And when MMX came out (althoug it was quite a farce) both AMD and Cyrix used it in their cpu's.
Or did AMD patented it better than Intel ? ("this cpu is MMX-capable" in stead of "with MMX",...remember AMD :p)
