The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday, August 12, 1998 edition that the RCMP has interviewed Canadian directors of YBM Magnex International. The Globe's Paul Waldie writes that YBM director Kenneth Davies was recently interviewed by the RCMP who asked simple questions, he said. Mr. Davies, 56, said he was told that other YBM directors have been interviewed by the RCMP as well. YBM's two other Canadian directors, former Ontario premier David Peterson, who resigned as director earlier this week, and Owen Mitchell, a vice president at First Marathon Securities, refused to comment. RCMP officials in the commercial crime unit, have confirmed that a file on YBM has been opened, and that the force is helping the FBI. This week chief operating officer Igor Fisherman agreed to a suspension pending a further review by the company. In June, YBM said Mr. Fisherman and others engaged in "significant breaches in corporate policy and common business prudence." Mr. Davies said every business encounters problems.
