BRYO landed good bundling agreement with IBM, Just thought this would be of interest as Sand has an agreement with BRYO. It appears that some of Sands partners are making progress. This can't hurt SAND either.

Brio Technology Announces That IBM WillBundle Brio Enterprise With IBM Visual
Warehouse

August 11, 1998 11:08 AM

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 11, 1998--

Brio Enterprise Adds Strong Web Capabilities and Integrated Application Solutions to IBM's
Successful Business Intelligence Partnership Initiative

Brio Technology, Inc. BRYO today announced that IBM will bundle Brio's family of enterprise
business intelligence products with IBM's Visual Warehouse(a) family as part of its Business
Intelligence Partnership Initiative.

In addition, Brio announced the first in a series of vertical market application solutions built on
top of the Brio-IBM Visual Warehouse bundle: eScholar from Vision Associates.

"At Brio, we are committed to delivering great business intelligence tools and analytic
applications for our customers through an innovative partnering strategy," said Chris Grejtak,
executive vice president of marketing for Brio. "This new partnership with IBM is a natural for
Brio. Not only is IBM an important customer, but we share IBM's commitment to providing truly
integrated solutions -- including vertical applications -- that enable rapid implementation of
enterprise business intelligence and faster ROI."

"Combining the strengths of Brio Enterprise with IBM's Visual Warehouse helps ensure
customers have access to complete, state-of-the-art solutions for their business needs," said
Janet Perna, general manager, data management, IBM Software Solutions. "This partnership
will help meet customers' requirements for swift implementation and transparent integration of
high performance business intelligence solutions."

IBM's Visual Warehouse family of software packages, powered by DB2 Universal Database(a),
is designed to help companies quickly and successfully build, manage and analyze data
warehouses and datamarts. The addition of Brio Enterprise to the IBM Visual Warehouse
family offers organizations all of the software components necessary to develop and deliver fully
integrated business intelligence solutions which are 100% interoperable between client/server
and Web environments.

In addition to products for both client/server and Web environments, the Brio-IBM bundle will
include Brio's unique computer-based training package, which provides end users with the
skills necessary to become productive immediately. The bundle will be available worldwide in
English, French, Italian and Japanese language versions, with full DBCS support.

"The eScholar application announced today by Vision Associates -- which is built on top of the
Brio-IBM Visual Warehouse bundle -- is another example of Brio's solution-partnering
approach," noted Grejtak. "With the eScholar application already in production, K-12 school
districts are benefiting from this innovative solution for specific reporting and analysis on
student demographics, grades, attendance, income levels, etc. Through our solutions
partnering approach, Brio uniquely delivers complete vertical market analytic applications to
speed implementation time and help customers attain demonstrable ROI."

The eScholar application is a premier packaged decision support solution for the education
market. Designed for ease of use by non-technical end-users, the application is built on a
dimensional model that presents student performance information in common business terms
such as student, location, course, marking period, etc. Furthermore, the solution includes
common analysis templates that can be used "out-of-the-box" or easily modified for a specific
institution's unique analytical needs. For more information on Vision Associates' eScholar solution for K-12, go to visionassociates.com.

"For several years now, we have been extremely successful implementing business
intelligence solutions with Brio Enterprise and Visual Warehouse," said Shawn Bay, president
and CEO of Vision Associates. "These products exemplify Vision Associates' belief in utilizing
open, industry-leading business intelligence products that allow our customers to show ROI as
quickly as possible. We've found that working with high quality products which enable quick
ROI is the best way to ensure success for our customers. The bundling of these products,
along with an increased emphasis on delivering widely applicable vertical market applications
such as eScholar, will help all of us dramatically expand the deployment of business
intelligence technology."

Already an IBM Business Intelligence partner, Brio will also be undertaking extensive
marketing and sales initiatives in collaboration with IBM. For more information on Brio's
