bullrider, if you hadn't said "Without any consideration as to which exchange the stock is traded on" I would have not pointed out the French connection. I doubt that I'll be buying any individual French companies, perhaps French WEBS, if there is such a thing. In general, I would agree that any U.S. company that closes down for days on end would have to have some incredibly compelling reasons to get me to buy it. But it is the custom in some foreign countries to close down the company lock, stock, and barrel for summer vacation.

I didn't realize it was a team. <g> I do think that having short positions to hedge my longs is just good diversification. I would have hated to have gone through the last two weeks without my short portfolio. While most folks were losing at least 10% my short positions were cranking out profits, and my bonds were holding steady and increasing. As a result, I only took a 6 1/2% hit to my overall portfolio.
