DSC Introduces MegaHub(R) 600ES for Long-Distance Switching
Compact Footprint Offers Reduced Space and Power Requirements
and Supports IN Services
DALLAS, Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- DSC Communications Corporation (Nasdaq: DIGI) announced today the unveiling of its newest long-distance switch, the MegaHub(R) 600ES. Designed to support growing carriers as they roll out new revenue-generating services, the MegaHub 600ES features a reduced footprint, so that floor space requirements are minimized. Other advantages of this new platform include reduced power consumption and operational costs. These make the MegaHub 600ES a highly efficient choice, especially for expanding carriers who have decided to deploy their own facilities rather than leasing all their lines.
The MegaHub 600ES is the latest addition to DSC's family of MegaHub products, which includes the proven MegaHub 600E. Drawing on the same capabilities and features as the established 600E platform, the new MegaHub 600ES offers a more compact design for carriers faced with reduced installation space or limited power availability.
DSC's MegaHub products all operate on a common hardware/software platform to protect the carrier's investment and establish a future growth path. For example, with the MegaHub 600ES as their foundation, carriers will be able to evolve their networks seamlessly from 30K ports up to 120K ports.
"Carriers who want to expand their service features, streamline their network costs, or evolve from leased-line operations will find the MegaHub 600ES to be an economical choice for their facilities," said Dave Hinshaw, vice president, DSC's Switch Division.
"Long-distance carriers, as well as tandem providers and facilities-based resellers, can all benefit from the high capacity and seamless growth capabilities that this system can deliver to their networks."
One key advantage of the MegaHub 600ES is its ability to support ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network)-based services for more rapid data transmissions. With greater data capacity and full compliance with ANSI standards, the MegaHub 600ES supports ISDN implementation from 24 PRIs (Primary Rate Interfaces) to 256 PRIs.
For greater revenue generation, carriers can also use the MegaHub 600ES to support a wide portfolio of services, including IN applications such as Debit Card, VPN, Calling Card, Conference Calling, and N00/888 Translation. |
