Ken,

You (faceciously) wrote: "Dan, what happens if you get to Connecticut and there is no "there", there? gggg "

Although I wasn't able to get far enough to actually "kick the tires", I think I now at least have a picture of "there" in my head (g).

After deciding at the last minute to give it a shot and then trekking through Mass. and much of Conn. yesterday morning, highway construction around Hartford got the best of me. After getting through that and also because I needed directions to the corporate offices -- I stopped just South of Hartford about 9:45 and called DCI. After not being able to get Dan Murphy or the receptionist, I called Joe's extension. Although I really didn't expect him to be there because of Brad's post, he picked up the phone. I told him where I was and that I'd like to meet and talk with him if possible. He was very cordial, estimated it would probably take me another 1-1/2 hours to get there, but said he had to be on a 12:00 train for a meeting in NYC in the PM. So, I figured the absolute best case (no more construction and no getting lost (which I'm very good at (g)) would give me just a few minutes to meet with him. I asked him if Dan or others would be in the office and he said he thought they would and that I'd be more than welcome to come and talk with him or anybody else in the office.

However, after considering all the above and since I was starting to get anxious about getting back to Manchester, NH to catch my plane because of all the construction, I decided against going the rest of the way.

After Joe had given me the directions, however, I'm pretty certain I'm familiar with the building where "there" is. I've visited the major employer in Stratford (the Sikorski Helicopter Division of United Technologies) a few times on business and I think I'm familiar with the building DCI is in because it's on the access road right across from Sikorski's airfield.

So, although I was disappointed in not being able to fulfill my mission, like I said in my post yesterday, (I think) I feel better for giving it a shot since I was so close. In retrospect, it was silly to try to cut things so tight but if I'd had definite appointments with Joe or others, I would have driven down the night before.

The best made plans ...

Dan
