Which Internut? Some of my best shorts this year have been 3rd level 'net stocks. I consider stocks like YHOO and AMZN to be those proud thouroughbred steeds of which I spoke. They may be overpriced, but then again, they may not be. Investor sentiment can only go so far. CFON is my best short (and position) this year, and it also is the one that moved against me the worst. I was down almost 300% for one brief instant. But, like all broken down nags, at the end it just faded. I am now up 40% on that initial position, and have booked as much as 70% on other positions I took during the run up. You are right, things can move against you in the short term, and the market can be unpredictable. But in the end, fundamentals will win. There were people short IOM(G) for a long time before they were right. Some used to laugh at how much they had lost. All of my losing positions this year except EGGS would have been winners had I just sat out the run ups, or better yet, added during the runs.
As far as my favorite short today? It really is strange, they seem to come in bunches. Currently, all of my shorts are down, and not really at good entry points. I believe you could get in on ZITL. That should be good for at least 20%, but it could move up. A better entry point is near 8. But if you don't over extend your margin and are patient, I think ZITL is a short to 0. I'm also short ZONA, CFON, ENML, OCOM, and FIBRD. ZONA is near 19, but I consider that my riskiest position.
