It's so hard to ask enough intelligent questions regarding LSI, they are so diversified. Symbios is now a big part of the co, so having clarification, especially growth rate and margins the last 6 months would help. I like them being a supplier to the networking guys. One just cannot look to one sector and say the stock will follow. Perhaps LSI need to have to 'outperform' other chip co for a couple of years like STM had been doing for so long for LSI to get any 'respect'. I just cannot imagine any one analyst having enough time to disect all the various business units and come up with any inteligent forecasts. Baring that, they would just go by 'trends' and add-lip their way through.

Lheman/Gumport just released to public an overall view of his earning predictions vs First Call. LSI is one of 4 co. that he estimated earnings to be significantly lower than First Call. Gumport continues to rate Q4 as good for semis overall because of sub-$1k PC. Of course that is one sector that LSI does not participate too much in. But I continue to see LSI having the right products to slowly but surely grow their own way out of this current recession.

On a side note, wouldn't it be nice if STM would buy LSI? Minimum products overlap, strengths in different sectors, great synergy, should dominate system-on-a-chip sector in the next upturn, should benefit stock prices of both immediately.
