In an effort to gain your respect for my integrity, I offer the following From CIBC Oppenheimer Dated Aug 12, 1998

>Investment Conclusion
>In our June PC price survey, we noted that
>Dell avoided aggressive price reductions on
>the corporate desktop, while Compaq went on
>a pricing rampage to undercut Dell in
>corporate desktop PCs for the first time in
>memory. We concluded that Dell must either
>respond or eventually relinquish market
>share to Compaq in the corporate arena. On
>August 5, Dell cut prices on the OptiPlex
>desktop computer by up to 17%, yet we are
>finding Compaq remains substantially lower
>on sampled configurations.

Loss or not.

Jim
