Here's an overly simplistic synopsis of the various postulated explanations for the alleged chip shortage (culled from recent posts), in the hope of stimulating some objective reflection (maybe aided by some juicy newly uncovered information)

1. Hong Kong airport fiasco.
2. A yield crash.
3. A (botched up) Celeron-A marketing ploy.
4. Some similar factor related to Xeon demand and supply.
5. JIT jitters for the newcomers to the game.
6. A plain and simple old fashioned (across the board) demand factor.

New theories, anyone????
