Larry,
None of this is brain surgery. To be successful you have to pick the best companies in the best sectors. As George F. Baker said, "To make money in stocks, you must have the vision to see them, the courage to buy them, and the patience to hold them."
I would add, and have the sense to filter out the distracting noise from the "Flecks" of the world.
