I would be very wary of bank stocks given developments in Japan/Asia and a possible mild recession in the US in the next year or so. Last Fall Chase and other banks were beaten down by the same worries which at the time looked overdone - given general US sentiment on the Asian Crisis. So I jumped in and bought Chase at 108 (pre-split) and even recommended my father to do the same (102). I got out at 147 and he at 75 or so post-split. I think sentiment has changed now and so am not jumping to get back in. I will continue tracking Chase closely as very long term I think it is potentially a good investment.
