There is definitely no confirmation yet of a protracted bear market.

Overvaluations persist in everything from blue chips to Internet stocks. Weakness in mutual fund flows argues little continuing support for the bubble.

But real malaise has not set in and panic must wait a while.

Amgdata.com will provide evidence tomorrow if mutual funds flows are weak or negative; federal reserve statistics will show if money supply is being tightened; and marketgauage indicators may eventually confirm a bear market (maybe too late for the best short selling).

We are still adrift in a warm ocean current of economic good feeling. The typhoon has not yet appeared.
