Let's settle down the dispute regarding iMac sales amount in the
current quarter. I predicted in the previous post that we probably
have 400,000 - 600,000 iMac sold in Q4.


At the risk of incurring some wrath here, I'll enter the fray on this discussion.

My only complaint about a prediction of 400,000 - 600,000 iMacs sold is that I simply don't believe Apple has the capacity to make that many iMacs -- at least not in the six weeks remaining in this quarter -- and still make the desktop and minitower G3's and PowerBooks.

I suppose it's possible for there to be that many iMac orders by then, but as for shipped units, I just can't see it. This is based only on my gut instinct, total shipped units for recent quarters, and the market share battle Apple must still overcome.
