Analyst says Ascend on track CS First Boston said network equipment maker Ascend Communications Inc. (ASND) gave an upbeat presentation at a networking conference in Santa Clara, Calif. and the company is on track to hit revenue and earnings estimates for the third quarter. Analyst James Parmelee said Ascend's core switching and remote access businesses were strong in July. Shares edged up 1/2 to 48. cbs.marketwatch.com
