I agree that rigidity is the mother of all screw ups; I just think that 300mm will be skipped, and that by they time funds are available to invest in new plant, state of the art will be 500mm. My point is therefore simple. AMAT invested $500m last year on expanding production, that won't be needed anytime soon. To get maximum tax advantage it will be written off quickly.... its really that simple. And yes one day, when the stock does have fear not hope in its price I will buy... until then I'm moderately short (by way of putts).... picking up SLB, BA, CA and CD on the dipps.... stocks that do reflect fear already
