As a graphic designer, and a user of Adobe products for many years, a few comments:
Illustrator 7, which I use, is considered by many a major blunder, indeed, a step backwards. Mostly its the interface, which many including myself, consider cumbersome. I believe it has caused some defections to Macromedia Freehand, the latest release (8.0) having gotten rave reviews.
Quark is not really "a major thief of market share from Pagemaker" It really has been the dominant page layout program for years, pagemaker not even coming close, as far as I know.
I admit that I don't have figures on these points at all. I always have liked Adobe as a company, and have been long on the stock in the past, tho I have no holdings at the moment. I do agree that long term should be good, especially if Acrobat PDF becomes the standard for movement of documents over the web. |
