>>second... given the lack of posts there....it's a great contrarian indicator for sentiment.............<<
I can't believe you'd use this thread as an indicator. Anybody who has been in COMS seriously has been in severe bear market mode since last October and it's only gotten progressively worse since then. We were in the mid 50's back in the fall sometime. We were one of the early stocks to get pulverized. It's now a permanent state of mind till we recover into the 40's or so. We're over moaning and crying about it (except for a few newcomers and finder).
>>if it were only a crash....that would be positive.... this is about a bear market<<
ok, bear market...First of all, why don't you ever give some reasons for what you believe. That might help the dialogue to be more constructive, unless all you want to do is prod the thread to get a reaction for your sentiment indicator.
Bear markets usually start with inflation, higher interest rates, looking at it historically for the last 60 or 70 years,....blah, blah, ...
So, if we have a bear market, it will be from deflation. That just means that products will get cheaper to the point where earnings are decreased to the point where the market sees it's better to keep your money under a mattress than put it into companies than can't make profits.
Well, I have more faith in humanity. I think that with new technology we have available, we are in unprecedented times and have tremendously increased productivity. The gov't figures don't capture this one iota (imo) because they don't measure the service economy worth beans. Greenspan, though it's hard to break his old-timers habits, understands this to some degree.
I know it's true by anecdotal evidence. Just around me, I've got thousands of people working on all sorts of things. Every two or three years, everything is changed, for the better. Everything is much more efficient, lazy asses have been weeded out, ... it's much easier to get a whole lot of stuff done with a lot less energy. Heck 2 or 3 years ago, I don't think I'd be working now and at the same time writing this post, and watching COMS all at the same time.
Ok...your turn.
