Whisper Numbers, again
Chuz,
I don't have any idea what David S. thinks, because he has not responded to my questions yet. We may infer that he is short from his posts, but he hasn't said anything concrete.
Your concept of whisper number sounds intuitively correct. When we, the market public, have a fixed concept of what earnings will be, and the company beats, meets, or fails to meet our expectations, we react and the stock moves accordingly.
DELL has no problem in beating analyst projections. It is our expectations that they can never beat. Long term, I believe it to be one of the best and most solid investments available. Short term, it may tank because of market uncertainties, and because we raised the bar too high.
